Date: Friday July 10th 2026
Venue: The Barn Resort
City / Town: Gettysburg, PA
Event: Gettysburg Bike Week
Subjects: Memphis May fire, The Funeral Portrait & More.

The 25th anniversary of Gettysburg Bike week ended up being the biggest night they’ve had on this evening. It was absolutely packed for the final two acts of the evening. Lets start from the beginning.
I arrived around 3:15 and made my way around to chat with some of the acts including Who They Fear and some members of Major Moment. Parking was pretty simple, signs were on the main road and the entrance had a huge sign as well. Not only was it easy but it was free. Attendants at nearly every corner to help you find a spot. It is in the grass so it was a bit muddy at the end of the night but nothing to be worried about in the least. Walking in I was able to see many of the vendors and such and their are plenty. Now this is a Bike Week event so of course there were just hundreds of bikes, an unbelievable amount of bikes. I’m not a rider but damn was it cool seeing so many in one place. The event was heavily sponsored by Twisted Tea, Phantom Rider and Freeburn Motorcycle Attorneys. Perhaps you’ll see 717 Entertainment next year.

Micheal Dunn of Who They Fear kicks off the Main stage on Friday at Gettysburg Bike Week.

The line for the Funeral Portrait merch and meeting of Lee Jennings began and 5:00PM and it was an extended line from about 4:45 until the final note of the show and beyond. The exception being the rain / storm delay which we will get to shortly. MAJOR MOMENT Took the stage as the third act. We had just had them at Racehorse tavern a month or so ago, so it was going to be great to see them on a big stage like this. The band didn’t disappoint as they came out swinging with “Toxic” and continued on with their two vocalists’ approach, that being a male and female. Lead vocalist Sascha is constantly smiling and just genuinely seeming like she is having the time of her life on stage. Toward the end of song 3 the announcers told us that we were to shelter as there was lightning in the area. ironically the band was playing a song called “Lunacy” which she noted before exiting the stage saying, “This weather is Lunacy”. I went to the barn area where many folks were hunkered down hanging out, drinking and shooting the shit. I found two members of Major Moment and was chatting with them for a bit as we all hoped they’d get to play the rest of their set. It was really coming down though with no sign of stopping anytime soon. One main attraction was a concert goer with a baby stroller. There was no human in there though, it was two pet skunks. One white and black and one albino. Many were getting photos with the furry superstars throughout the delay. One young lady stepped on a chair to announce an Anniversary in the house. We all shouted and clapped. It was a pretty fun time. Towards the end of the delay Major Moment vocalist Sascha came in and handed out signed set lists and met with fans taking photos and having little discussions. All members of the band were posing for photos with concert goers. I was able to talk with concert super goer Doug Weston for a good bit which was wonderful. Eventually the rain subsided and the announcers started instructing all to begin getting ready for what would be the second half of the show.

Before the rain even stopped the line was forming again for the next bands merch line. Standing in the downpours, the dedicated fans awaited the arrival of one of the hottest bands on the scene. Next up on stage was THE FUNERAL PORTRAIT. There is in my opinion no hotter band in America right now. Looking around the place all the sudden gained what seemed like over 2,000 people in the matter of minutes for the band. They opened w/ the signature cover of Tears of Fears “Mad World” and then blasted into “Generation Psycho”. One of the more fun bands you’ll see live as they have audience participation, banter between members throughout the set and to back it all up straight forward good music. The band played about 80% of the “Suffocate City” record including two deeper cuts “Evergreen” and “Skinny Lies”. Vocalist Lee Jennings has a very captivating presence and to his credit that man meets damn near everyone in the place. He was behind that merch tent after the set until long after the show was over. Not to mention he was walking around the event earlier in the day checking out the sites and taking pictures. Back to the set though, the crowd was singing along to every single song including the deep cuts. There were a few crowd surfers for the set which was a first for the day. They are so energetic that its hard not to move during the set, and they do the crowd participation with the hands in the air, the middle fingers in the air and dueling sides of the crowd saying “Hell” and “Yeah”. As the set came to a close with “Suffocate City” the singer announced that this would be the final show of that album’s era. They will finally get a much-deserved break from the road and eventually make their way to L.A. where they will write and record the follow up record. They have been going hard for the past 3 years and the album has done so much for the bands career. I cannot wait to hear what the next one is going to sound like.

The Funeral Portrait Perform at Gettysburg Bike Week.

Maryland’s WHO THEY FEAR opened the main stage to a thundering response. led by vocalist Michael Dunn, who is the chief member and songwriter of the band they blasted through a set that included standout tracks like “Whiteout”, “Dead Dreaming” and “Dead Dreaming 2”. Mixing screams with clean vocals the band are a very heavy, in your face act. The crowd was a bit smaller but extremely rowdy and 1,000% into the band. Its not often you get your first mosh pit at 4:00 in the afternoon but our commanding vocalist willed that into existence w/ a simple “You get a free hat if you mosh”. The band gave away around 20 hats in the end, but it was well worth it as the crowd either loved or fell in love with the band in those 30 minutes. It was also the final performance from the bands Bassist as he will be going off to finish school. Stay tuned to the band’s socials for info on the new bassist as well as future shows. You can catch them at the Iron & Ink Festival this fall.
Filling the 5:00 slot was VOIDS out of Pa. The band is a metal outfit that has been around for awhile. Oddly the band was not selling Merch for the show and kept a pretty low profile throughout the day. I caught a song or two of the bands set but was sort of caught chatting and walking around during the set. The band also mixes cleans with screams and plays a heavier style.

Major Moment performing at Gettysburg Bike Week.

Things kicked back off around 7:20 which sadly meant that Major Moment was unable to finish their set. However, because the organizers are great the band did get to come back and perform a full set on Saturday afternoon. For us on Friday night we were treated to the next act out of Scranton ANOTHER DAY DAWNS. I have been booking this band for years and two things I’ve noticed. 1. They get better with seemingly every show and every new single release. 2. They are one of those bands that when you see them you think to yourself “How are they not bigger than they are”? They opened up with one of the latest singles “Parasite” which is getting some major rotation on radio and internet stations as of late. Then segue way into the most recent single that was just released a few days before called “Comfort in Every Mistake”. I’m assuming that song will also start to blow up and get some great play as well. The band is spot on when playing live, very tight and considered a hard rock band but they can bring some metal elements as well. He can scream along with singing those beautiful harmonies. The crowd was much larger at this point in the night as it almost seemed like they came out of nowhere. It was so great seeing the band in front of a large crowd such as this. They played some other heavier songs “Beautiful Suicide” and “Pull Me Under". Speaking with them later on they did have to cut a few songs due to the weather situation but as always, the band is so laid back and didn’t mind at all, as they just wanted to play. The band has some new stuff in the works and are always adding new shows to the calendar.

Lee Jennings of The Funeral Portrait performing at Gettysburg Bike Week!!

In between bands they had a really cool Drone show featuring a bunch of cool images. I’ve never seen one before and I want to see again. They included all the sponsors and a tribute to America’s 250. Then it was time for the biggest headliner of the events history. MEMPHIS MAY FIRE took the stage with “The Sinner”. The band came out with an incredible amount of energy and a bunch of Smoke as well. After opening with “The Sinner” and following up with “Vices” off the “Challenger” record, they would then evenly divide the rest of the set between 2022’s “Remade in Misery” and the band’s latest “Shapeshifter”. Lead singer / screamer Matty Mullins thanked the crowd and told them that it was the band’s first time in Gettysburg. Throughout the evening, he would show the bands appreciation for the event. “Misery”, arguably the bands biggest song came mid set after the crowd was already fully engaged. The performance was very festival worthy as they would end up ripping through 16 songs including a 3-song encore including “Blood & Water” and the closer for the entire evening “Chaotic”. Closing out what was in fact a very chaotic day at Gettysburg Bike Week with amazing bands, vendors, Rain and most of all a lot of bikes. There is something about walking out of a concert and hearing the roar of hundreds of motorcycles as you walk to your car. I rolled down the windows in my car and listened to the rumblings of the bikes as I pulled out of the venue with The Funeral Portrait playing quietly in my car as a soundtrack. I found the event to be a great mix of culture and music. If I have my way 717 Entertainment could be a minor part in the event in 2027. Bravo the team and the everyone involved in the event. See you all next year.
