Just like that we had arrived on the final day of Ink already. The day that was referred to as Bizkit day. Bizkit shirts where prevalent as were Fred Durst look-a-likes with white shirts and backward red caps. However, that was not until closer to 9:30 in the evening, we had a long day to get through before they took the stage.
We started our day at 11:55AM at the Redemption stage for one of the most talked about bands of the weekend. SILLY GOOSE had people handing out ads for this performance all weekend long. The band made their name by setting up shop and playing in parking lots including the lots of Ink and now they are on a main stage. This band was one of the sleeper bands of the entire weekend. The way they got the crowd involved was incredible. Huge mosh pits, one of the biggest walls of death all weekend long and the ole get on your knees and jump up trick were all included and it was just after noon on a Sunday. Screaming through a seven song set that included “Neighbors”, ‘Set it Off” and closer “Bad Behavior” the set was nothing short of powerful. You could find shirts of the band at the merch booth featuring a picture of vocalist Jackson Foster’s mugshot when he was arrested last year and the words “Free Silly Goose” on the back. They have a rap / rock style that is adrenaline filled. After the set the band was seen coming down and talking to fans and taking pictures as well as signing autographs asa well. The marketing on this band is insane, and the hidden gem is they have the songs and energy live to back it up.

The middle of the day saw us going back and forth like mad men from the back of Redemption where we could see both that and the yard stage to the infirmary stage to catch a few songs of those bands. Here’s a quick recap of the bands between 1:00 and about 5:30. One of the bands I had not known much about but listened to before the show and was very anxious for their set was NORMA JEAN. They tore that Yard stage a new asshole, let me tell you. Brutal breakdowns and the screams were intense. I really enjoyed them and will 10/10 see them again. Ohio’s own MISS MAY I took the stage just after 2:00 and they had been advertising the new record all weekend with little 4 foot by 4-foot replicas of the album cover on the road leading to the festival. Ohio loves their metal sons. The band came right out w/ “Hey Mister” off the “At Heart” Album. The band played 3 tracks off the upcoming album “No Place For Me”, those being “Die on The Vine”, “Pray for Silence” and “Sanctuary”. Something tells me 30 minutes was just not enough for the hometown crowd. Up next on the Yard stage was a very disappointing set as ESCAPE THE FATE was nearly 20 minutes late as the sound tech was having issues. With a festival such as this time is of the essence so they made the best of it and played 3 or 4 songs but it was very underwhelming as they never really got going to no fault of their own. Nostalgia time was next as ALIEN ANT FARM took the stage and played through all the hits. “Courage”, “Wish”, “These Days” and more of the bands sing along classics that yes even the metalist of metal heads sang every word to. By the time the band closed out with their Michael Jackson cover of “Smooth Criminal” it was hard to find a person not singing along, even those who were walking to another stage or to get food. It was very rewarding to see actually.

Back over to the yard for another one of the top bands talked about all weekend and that was MOTIONLESS IN WHITE. The Wilkes Barre Scranton based screamo metal act had just put out a new record two days prior to the show. The highly anticipated “Decades” hit stores and featured songs like “Afraid of The Dark” and “Playing God”, two songs the band played to perfection. Before that though they burst onstage to the familiar licks of “Sign of Life” and then directly into the aforementioned “Playing God” before another banger in “Meltdown”. Vocalist Chris Motionless stopped the show twice for injured audience goers which was the first time I had seen that over the weekend. He would thank the crowd for the support and of course plug the new album when he got the chance. One of the more emotional songs of the evening was the new track “R.I.P.” which again came off live even better than on record. MIW is not a big cover song band however they did slip one onto the new album and also threw it into the set. “Everyone get out your sunglasses” was then followed by the Corey Hart hit “Sunglasses at Night” which was also one of the more fun songs of the day with the entire crowd singing along. Fit for a King’s Ryan Kirby came out to help the band sing “Slaughterhouse”. In true Motionless fashion he got out the red roses and threw them to the crowd during the final track of the set “Eternally Yours”. After an hour of this band, you truly feel like you’ve been standing there for 20 minutes. Headlining the Redemption stage for the weekend was A DAY TO REMEMBER. The band had a contest for folks to be able to go up on stage with them during the set which was pretty neat. The band opened up with “The Downfall of us all” which is their usual opener and honestly if it’s not broke don’t fix it because it is perfect. We needed a bit more of a recharge during this set, so we sat but listened to hit all. “All of My Friends” was a gigantic sing along as was truthfully most of the band’s songs. In all the band made it through 15 songs including the somber “If it Means Alot to You” and the closer “All Signs point to Lauderdale”. They put on a hell of a show even for us that were resting. It was very neat seeing all the people at the back of the stage having the absolute time of their lives too.

Just like that, as fast as it began another year of Ink was in the books. Typically, we skip the last band or two on Sunday so we can drive home that night and make decent time. It’s about a 6-hour drive for us. This year we stayed until the very end. In the four years I’ve attended I’ve never done that before, but sacrifices must be made for the Biz. We did drive home afterwards though and returned around 4:30AM. In the car there was much discussion of who was the best, who was disappointing and of course who do we think will be playing next year. We all agreed that Limp put on the performance of the weekend while bands like Motionless in White, Bad Omens, The Used and Papa Roach all came in closely behind. Silly Goose Open the Redemption Stage on Day 3 of Inkcarceration 2026

After the Goose we were forced to split sets as they had ARCHERS on the Yard stage and FILTH on the Infirmary. Since we were right next to the Yard we started out watching Archers. I say this each time I review them but watching them grow has been such a pleasure. They are just doing everything right and in the most positive ways. They came out with the opener “Made For Love” getting the crowd moving early. The band is growing quite a stage presence as well. They don’t dress fancy they just come out and play. The songs are very hard rock and ready for radio most of them but with crisp breakdowns just for the mosh pit crew. They then played the song they had just released two days prior called “Get Paid”. To my knowledge it was the first live performance of the song since its release. It sounded fantastic. At this point it was time to say goodbye to Archers as we headed over to Infirmary to check out another fast rising act in FILTH. These guys have taken the Gutter core to the next level, and they had that stage packed with people. The band recently released a new EP “Welcome to Shell Town” and they would use that for some tracks on the set. They are the “push your neighbors” type of heavy metal with the stop / start beats that make it nearly impossible to not move your body during the set. At one point they had a wall of death that made it all the way to the back of the crowd, another one of the bigger ones of the weekend. The set came to a close with the band’s biggest song “Chin Check” and it was introduced as such: “This is Chin Check Bitch”. Full on energy and impact when they play live. When they leave the stage, you have to refresh yourself as if you’d just done a workout.

We did some mingling and resting around so didn’t catch a whole lot of GET SCARED or FIT FOR A KING but both sounds great from what we were able to catch. The real action for the night began at around 5:30 when LORNA SHORE took the stage. This band is a whirlwind of energy and lead vocalist Will Ramos puts so much power in his screams and growls that it sounds like he is mustering them up from the bowls of hell. Which is fitting because they opened with “To The Hellfire”. The stage filled with smoke and the bands usual onstage set up working for them, I must say it was interesting to see them during the day. It almost seemed out of place like a bat flying around during the sunlight. They used the time though to put on a brutal 7 song set which left some time before the next act. Before leaving they managed to get in a “Happy Birthday” song for Shiloh of the band Orthodox. The set made you feel like you were on a high mountain and then down to the flat land again. We hustled over to the Redemption stage for what would be the most theatrical set of the weekend. Metal Ambassador & host of the weekend, Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin had the mic and was introducing ICE NINE KILLS and then he was ceremoniously killed by a serial killer that was let out of the prison. The inmate then hit the stage to begin his killing spree, and he was followed by Spencer and the rest of the band who opened the set with “Meat and Greet”. There are not many ways to describe a Ice Nine show other than to say it’s a Horror movie with a killer live soundtrack. With kills and metal the band blitzed through a 12-song set that included a special guest appearance by Blue Medusa and former Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White Gluz to do vocals on the song “Twisting the Knife”. The song that is featured in the new Scream movie and on the soundtrack and yes Ghostface himself did make an appearance. Sadly, he also killed Alissa at the song’s conclusion. Luckily, she was resurrected and able to come out and sing the bands final song “A Work of Art” before basically everyone died. Jose Mangin actually managed to be killed twice which was impressive.

The stage was set and a countdown began on the screen behind the stage. At the zero point in the countdown a hilarious song that had the words “Why you gotta be such a bitchass motherfucker” was played as members of Limp Bizkit one by one walked on stage with the last being vocalist Fred Durst. Durst walked on slow, half dancing and smiling. As soon as “Hot Dog” kicked in the whole area went off as they say. Bizkit has a way of moving the crowd which is interesting because there is no “Let’s get a mosh pit going” or “Open up that pit” requests from the band, the music just does it to people. Fred with his eagle eye stopped the show twice for audience injuries. After hot dog he said, “we know why you’re here” and they played “Break Stuff”. Very few people were not jumping as the refrain of “break you’re fucking face tonight” took over the grounds. “Faith”, “my generation”, “Livin it up” and a bit of a rarity “Eat You Alive” filled out the middle of the set. During “My Way” he stopped to say, “this isn’t real, its just karaoke and it’s all you”. Throughout the set they would put up humorous pictures on the backing screen, some of which included Scott Stapp of Creed. (‘ll post one of those). One had a bright-eyed Danny Wimmer with an “I Love Fred Durst” shirt standing in the front fow of a concert with the caption “When Danny Wimmer Listens to Limp Bizkit”. In one of the most heartwarming moments, he brought up to young kids to help out with the song “Full Nelson” and boy did they both nail it. You could see they were having the time of their lives. They had a moment of silence for fallen bassist Sam Rivers who passed away earlier this year and then dedicated “Behind Blue Eyes” to the original member. They would close out with “Take a Look Around” and then the second offering of “Break Stuff” which was just as rambunctious as the first one. I always say they are a band everyone should see at least once. Its an experience like no other. Fred would say his goodbyes and inform us that Matchbox 20 was up next. haha.
